Hey guys!

So, some of you may be wondering why if all sudden everyone is finding shiny fish pokemon but don't tell you how. Well, here you go.

Recently a new way of finding shinies easily and fast was discovered. To be said right from the start, this only works with Pokémon that you can fish for in X and Y.

The method started to circulate yesterday due to the NPC that hands you the Super Rod saying:
"This is just a rumor, but word is that you can catch some rare Pokemon through consecutive fishing!"

It is very likely the rare Pokémon he is talking about are in fact shiny Pokémon. The method below has been discovered and tested by many. I myself have tried it and obtained shiny Relicanth, Dragalge and Poliwhirl with it, two of my friends got shiny Seadras and my boyfriend got shiny Clauncher.

What to do:

- Find a Pokémon with Suction Cups or Sticky Hold for their ability. In gen 6, Octillery and Inkay are easily obtainable Pokémon that can have Suction Cups. Gulpin and Trubbish are good examples for Sticky Hold. Put it in the first spot of your party. These abilities will almost guarantee bites on your rod, which is important. The abilities are still intact if the Pokémon faints, so if you want to use a stronger Pokémon to run from wild ones more easily, faint the ability Pokémon and put the Pokémon you want to enter battles with in the second spot.

- Have a Fishing Rod. It doesn't matter which, it will only change the Pokémon you can encounter, along with their levels.

- Find a spot to fish in. If you have a Pokémon with one of the mentioned abilities in your first spot, it doesn't really matter where you fish. If you couldn't find a Pokémon with either ability or want to use another ability, maybe Synchro to provoke a certain nature, look for a Spot that is enclosed by rocks or walls and the like. These spots will up your chains of getting bites. I myself usually fish in such a spot despite having a Pokémon with Suction Cups upfront, just to be safe.

Examples of good spots:

Shalour City:

Route 8:

Route 21:

And now you fish.

Basically, you will automatically build up a so called chain or streak of fish Pokémon, gradually increasing the chance for a shiny encounter. Most people find them after about 20-30 encounters, but sometimes they appear at less than 10 or it takes more than 100. The chance of finding a shiny is reset when your chain is broken.

Your chain will definitely break if:

- You move away from your spot
- You reel in too fast or too slow
- You do not get a bite (This is why you either need one of the
above mentioned abilities or a well enclosed spot to fish in)

- You exit the game
- You use the PSS to trade/battle etc. with other players.

Things that could possibly break your chain (not confirmed, but try to avoid):

- Saving
- Using items outside of battle
- Changing the bottom screen or moving through the menu
- Catching a Pokémon or finding a shiny (In this case just catch it obviously,
the chain may be broken but you will have achieved your goal. If it's not the
Pokémon you wanted, try again. Try not to catch non-shiny Pokémon as long
as there is no confirmation on whether it will break your chan or not.)

Other important notes:

- The chain will NOT break if you encounter another Pokémon than the previous one you encountered. The kinds of Pokémon will vary throughout your chain, more common Pokémon will obviously appear more often than uncommon ones.
- You may either defeat the encountered Pokémon or run from it. Running will NOT break your chain.
- The sparkly patches of water have absolutely nothing to do with it. They are just an animation for aesthetics.
- The person who gave you the Super Rod will tell you how long your longest chain was.
- There is no indicator to tell you if your chain is still going or not. There is also no indication of whether your next encounter will be a shiny.

Keep in mind that sometimes you may be unlucky and it may take you longer. It took me a chain of about 50 to get the first shiny (Relicanth) and the others only took me about 20-30 encounters. Some people had chains that were longer than 100 and still weren't in luck. Take a break and try again later. You will find a shiny eventually.

Now go and find your shiny fishies! :) Hope this helps.
